A miniature circus train (which could just as easily have appeared in a Ringling spec) made its appearance to the Casey, Jr. theme from “Dumbo” (cleverly interwoven with themes from Strauss’ “Die Fledermaus.”) Next came “St. Julian March” followed by the “Pink Panther Theme.” A disco version of “Entry of the Gladiators” preceded Phil Hacker’s “A Slippery Place” rag from 1911. (One of the really great trombone smears, “A Slippery Place” was also used in Ringling specs over the years.) This led into the Canestrellis’ trampoline act. Their music included up-tempo show band versions of the theme from “2001 A Space Odyssey,” “Proud Mary” “Star Wars” and “Parahos Rumberos” among others. After their act concluded, the circus train was packed up again and made an exit to music that included fragments of “Barnum & Bailey’s Favorite,” and the Casey, Jr. theme. |

The Canestrellis were with the 109th Edition Red Unit when it played San Diego in 1979. Their picture does not appear in the ice show's program, so their act might have been added later, to help beef up "Dumbo's Flying Circus."
They also toured with the Disney On Parade show "Snow White" 1970-71. With DOP all the cast were dancers and the shows were produced by NBC Entertainment. On this show also no one was given credit for the Disney character that they played. How ever unlike Disney On Ice did Mickey ever do the LIGHT PITCH. We did Dumbo's circus on the Alice Unit and used a lot of acts on that show. We even had Dumbo flying.
Pietro fell in love with San Diego
& after spending several seasons
at Busch Gardens "Old Country" in
Williamsburg Virginia he & Joyce
& the kids relocated to San Diego
& they are happily stll there
