The only ice show I was ever called to play for was the World Premier Edition of the Feld-produced WALT DISNEY PRODUCTIONS’ WORLD ON ICE, which appeared in San Diego in the fall of 1982. Since that particular edition included a number of circus elements, I thought it might be appropriate to submit a few comments and observations about it. (Some of you might have worked on this show and/or have additional comments to share. PLEASE DO SO, SINCE THIS MIGHT BE THE ONLY TIME THIS INFORMATION WILL EVER BE SET DOWN FOR POSTERITY!) |

The current edition of Disney on Ice, "Let's Celebrate" will be skating into Phoenix this week. ~frank
Seems there are several Disney ice shows touring.
On Fri I'm going to the soon-to-be totally re-ramped??!! - Madison Square Garden. (I made the re-vamped up as they are moving all the seating to more stadium oriented head-to-toe seating!!) and adding level of suites halfway up.. and even a see-through bridge OVER THE FLOOR!!
Used to see two or three ice shows there every year.. but.. there hasn't been an ice show there for many years. Don't know why.
I thought I'd catch this one - "Princess Dreams" - probably in my last visit before it closes for remodeling.
My first ice show was OUTSIDE in the Zollner baseball field in Ft. Wayne, Indiana in the 1950's. Talk about production!! I think it was Holiday On Ice.. and incredible.. on a mild August night.. under the stars!!
I'm trying to recall any show with "our friends"!!
Regards...

I remember that show as if it was yesterday. I was married to Patty Cannestrellis sister at the time. so we went there with them. We did the concessions for Bobby Johnson. My son Ian was born on that show. We also opened the Meadowlands Arena with it. It was a big deal because it was the premier of both things. We had a big party after opening night. I still have a plaque they gave to everybody on their tables announcing the opening of Meadowlands and premier of the Disney show. Linda Fratianni was the star that year. The Canadian who played the prince was the first to do a quad. We did have alot of variety acts those first few years because it was a transitional period from your traditional Ice Show. By the third year the acts had dwindled and it started to switch towards todays format of disney characters and noone being announced by their names. I will tell you to this day it was the most money I ever made in 1 season! Mitch Freddes
