There are any number of local legends about a traveling circus being unable to move something off a muddy lot, thus leaving something behind and explaining the modern day presence of such an artifact. I would reference a photo like this, displaying the incredible effort utilized by showmen, proving to them that no traveling show ever left anything behind unless intending to do so, or by complete accident.
Wasn't it Von Bros that went off and left a couple of elephants on the lot?
This would come under complete accidents.
