Back when I was in the 5th grade, one of the books we read as a group was SPUNKY, a story about a Shetland pony, written in 1933 by Berta and Elmer Hader. Since part of Spunky’s career was spent with the circus, and since the story itself is in keeping with the holiday spirit, it is being summarized here for the particular enjoyment of the younger followers of Buckles’ Blog. (Older followers who might have read this book years ago will probably enjoy seeing the old artwork again.) |
