Ten years later on the Cole Show "Tony" was added to the Ranch Herd to replace the male "Joe". By the time we joined the show late in the season she was completely out of control and Arky Scott was the only person that could get around her.
Zack Terrell announced that now someone else was here that could work "Tony". My dad went straight to Smitty and asked what he thought and the answer was, "Stay Away! She' Nuts!"
I have told the story several times over the years about my father's return home at the close of the season and shortly after, a telegram saying that "Tony" had busted up Arky in the baggage car and to come immediately to the Shrine date in Wichita.
Zack Terrell ordered that she be shot while still in the car under objection from Estrella but the deed was done.
My dad worked the remaining four throughout the winter until Arky recovered. |
