These wagons are all originals, though some modified by Disney. Some came to California for the Ken Maynard Wild West Circus. They ended up at an amusement park on Beverly Blvd. in Los Angeles and were then aquired by Disney. Some were in bad shape and all needed restoration wotk, which was done by Disney. These are the same wagons which appeared in the movie "Toby Tyler" and were later donated to the Circus World Museum. One calliope was retained by Disney and I assume still in their possesion. There were several other wagons, including another calliope, at Disney Studios, but I don't know if they were ever restored or there where abouts.

Thanks Jerry! The Caliope wagon that you refer to was used in the Disney Circus Celebration in the late 70's to early 80's. They also used a lot of 'retired' Ringling wardrobe for that parade, as I recall. ~frank

Gil Gray loved these wagons & he later had my dad (Max Craig) duplicate some of them for his show's spec. The costumes the mouseketeers wore in the circus were made there at Disneyland by some of the women on Gil's show that sewed. My mom (Gertie Craig)was one of them. My dad also taught the older girls (Annette included) to do swinging ladder for the show. Seems like the mouseketeers did at least 1 show a day,the TV show, the parade & other publicity things. Annette had to drop out of the circus because she didn't have the time. Kandra

In reading about the Mouseketeers, they really were worked to the maximum - Annette especially. Karen and Cubby were used for a lot of promotional stuff, as were Darlene and Doreen. Bobby Burgess was used if any dancing was required, too. ~frank
