Probably St. Louis summer wardrobe. The jacket only came out on special occasions.
What's going on is demonstrating how I taught the sea lions to balance a ball. The small beach ball is tied to the stick, kind of a "beach ball mechanic". Through successive approximations (that's for Wade) I'd slowly get the sea lion to understand the ball was to stay on their nose -- a time consuming trick. I know other trainers had different techniques, Roland Tiebor used a small rubber ball. I learned this method from Bennie Kirkbride, long-time trainer at the San Diego Zoo and one of Capt. Winston's "boys" with Art Thomas and Max Morris.
