After Walter McLain's accidental death in 1942, Eddie Allen must
have been the logical replacement since Robert Ringling had plans
for a big elephant number as seen here in rehearsal.

What happened to Walter McClain? Was it elephant-related or otherwise?

I heard a story years ago but forget the name- that whan McClain was killed one guy in the department immediately RAN to the manager and put in for the job.
