Hi Buckles,
I am pretty sure that these were the elephants for the "Panto's Paradise" spec in 1944.
To be sure I will search through my photos and see what I can find.
Dom
My memory is not that great, but in my mind I remember Pantos Paradise with all pink elephant blankets and clouds and lot of pink ostrich plumes. It was a dream sequence where Willie Krause went into the center ring dressed like Emmett Kelly and fell asleep on the ring curb and the spec was all a dream. On the pay off float, the real Emmet Kenny arrived, all surronded by beautiful girls in pink and plumes. These elephants shown might have been in another section of the spec. I have photos here, but way down in a Taylor trunk. Jackie LeClaire
Kenny Dodd researched from film he has of the 1944 show taken in Akron, Ohio the first outdoor date after the fire, and those zebra stiped elephants were in that spec. Jackie LeClaire
By the way, Kenny says that the pink Panto's Paradise float was pulled by 12 elephants, a line of 6side by side. Being pulled by the big float was a smaller pink cloud with Emmett Kelly sitting in it after full filling his dream Jackie LeClaire
I am very cross with Kenny Dodd.
He blatantly refuses to enter the 21st Century.
Being a slave to a machine isn't all that bad.
If nothing else, he should at least share more of pictures thru Jackie.
Although he sincerely regrets
that you are cross with him
Kenny (& Petey Kinosh another
friend) will remain computer
celibate as long as possible
It seems he has more than
enough friends to keep him
up to date on events & gossip
