I'm even more ignorant than you Paul... I thought it was the sign on my barber's shop door... 'I'll be back in a zimit.' ~frank

Zimt is the German word for cinnamon. So guess it was the brown
version of the American black bear.

"Zimt bear":
A cinnamon colored black bear?

Paul,
With my limited German, zimt means cinnamon, which probably refers to the bear's coloring. I believe it is a subspecies of the American black bear only a cinnamon color. Just a guess.

Paul,
If my limited German serves me, zimt is cinnamon, in reference to the bear coloring. I believe a subspecies of the American black bear. Jimmy Hall help here?
