The Selig Zoo was located in what is now, the Lincoln Heights section of Los Angeles, just north of downtown LA, up the street from the General Hospital.
In 1913, Selg, a former magician and minstral show owner, bought 32 acres of land next to the park for $1MM. The property was turned into a zoo for the animals that he used in his films.
By 1915, 700 animal species were residing at the Selig Zoo. In 1916, he moved his studio onto the zoo property. Even though his studio folded in 1917, he maintained the zoo at least to the mid 1930's.

Didn't the Russell show spend one or more winters at the old Selig before Art Concello bought the show?
I believe they were originally out of Rolla, MO, and at least once spent the winter in the Valley at Donna, TX.
To me, the tigers in this series are breathtaking, and I admire how well-made that barrel is.
