Under the compound's title of Goebel's Lion Farm, Louis Roth was with Louis Goebel from 1933 to 1945,when he died of cancer. The 36-foot arena Mabel Stark worked in was among the Red Forbes-built equipment acquired from the Barnes show, and was accompanied by the wooden seats favored by Roth, seen here. We still had a number of them in my day, but no one was using them. The dark trim you see here was light metal, bradded in place, and of course bore varying paint jobs. When new, the seats were well-bolted and durable, but by the time I looked them over they had not been maintained, and were abandoned in favor of props made of pipe and angle-iron. Over time, I found a place to set them aside and only wished they could tell me of the great Barnes show acts that put them to use.
