From Vickie Rossi

Sorry to report that my dear aunt Norma passed away this evening at 7:30. She was 79. Fortunately, she passed away at peace with God and without pain. Her family was with her all day ... until the moment she took her last breath. We loved her more than words can say. I'm so sad. Her death is a great loss to us all. Pete is devastated.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I was so wonderful to see you all in Sarasota at the 2008 Fans convention.

Norma Davenport Cristiani, daughter of Benjamin C. and Eva Davenport, wife of Pete Cristiani, and mother of four children. Norma performed more than 20 different routines as she grew up on Davenport's Society Circus and Dailey Bros. Circus. She was a mentor to a number of showgirls that she trained on the Cristiani-Wallace Circus which she and Pete operated in the early 1950s. Later she worked the front end for Dory Miller, Alan Hill and other circus owners/producers. She was a hard worker and a very caring person. Norma left her imprint on the circus world and the circus community in Sarasota. Our thoughts and prayers are with Pete and the family.

Her pleasant personality and wonderful smile and laugh. She was 100% circus and did it all. She was with it and for it in every way.I met her in 1944 and she was already a versatile performer with elepants, horses, bareback, you name it. She cherished all she knew from wherever. We will miss her. What a gal. So long Norma. Johnny and Mary Ruth.
