My recently acquisition of TRU-VUE’s “A Day at the Circus” #2 also included a copy of “A Day a the Circus #1, which I assumed would be identical to the version I already had and which Buckles posted a few weeks back. Closer examination revealed that it was an earlier version and slightly different. The first major difference is the opening title card. As you can see, it not only identifies the Barnett Bros. Circus by name, but also mentions that its winter quarters are located in York, S.C. (My other copy dates from the late 1930s. Was the show off the road by then or using a different name? That might account for TRU-VUE making changes to this particular title.) |
