I remember writing a letter to Emmett requesting an autograph. To my surprise he mailed me one from Lake Tahoe. He was playing Harrahs Casino in the early 70s.
Chic, I worked several dates for the Emmett Kelly, Jr. All-Star Circus in the 70's. Emmett Jr's manager was Leonard Green and one of the talent booking agents was the lovable Miss Rose Adair. Ed Migley was on the road as manager, I believe. Derrick Rosaire, Sr. was there with the animals from the Daktari tv series. While I visiting the show in Commack, Long Island, Emmett Jr. was hit on the side of the head when entering for finale underneath the still revolving wheel of Johnny Luxem (I believe). Ambulance was called. Also on the bill was Carmen Hall with her Charmaine's Pets.

Sounds like that might have been
his son who took on the make up
& personna without permission
I believe they were somewhat
estranged & the son went as far
as licensing the name to a short
lived show (maybe in the 70s)
(please correct me if I'm wrong)
The last time I recall Emmett Sr
working was the "Circus America"
date at the Capitol Center in
Lanham Maryland near D C that
was produced by owner Abe Pollin
