Buckles,
I don't mean to beat the dead horse already discussed, but I felt a retraction was necessary regarding the statement that I did not pay for Mr. Younger's book in reference to the discussion on August 9. He apparently does not.
This was sent to me last Friday.
"Your first check arrived the day after you said you would cancel it and send a new one. I shredded it. The second one arrived today. Thank you. DJY"
I would not want anyone to believe I did notpay for something solely based on poor quality.

Chic,
There were 3 middles each divided into two pieces (or sections) To get fourteen sections would make the ends divide into four pieces each all laced together and to the bale rings before the top went up. Considering the size of the top, 200' minimum likely 210 feet, this seems likely as the tops I have seen (150' max) split the ends into 3 sections each.
The area in square feet of each section will tell you why.

Thanks Mark but I had said the

same thing about the middles

when the photo of the 4 pole top

was run some days back

When I read the caption that said

there were 14 sections it didn't

make sense to me as I had only

seen round ends in 2 sections each

In reviewing an old Lief plan of

a 200' round I can see that the

ends were in 4 sections each

I'll send the drawing to Buckles
