This photo is likely 1946 - -not 1948.

This male baby giraffe “Boston” was born in that city in May 1946, as the sign on the corral says. I saw Boston in Atlanta in 1947 and he was much larger than what we see here and was even bigger in 1948 when I saw him again.

They grow at a rate of about 3 ft. per year. So, in 1948 Boston would have been about 12 ft. tall. That’s much larger than the baby we see here.
