While the American Circus Corporation owned the Floto Show in the 20's, it usually went out on 30 cars that would include one elephant car.
This would accommodate 12 big elephants, six in each end.
This picture was taken in 1924 not long after five young elephants had been added (you can see them on the back end)so there may have been as many as 14 in the herd.
I have 12 listed with the show in 1928 under the direction of Joe Metcalf however one was shot in August (Mary) during a runaway in Lewiston, Idaho.
I have a picture of the carcass in a mechanic's shop which she had been dismantling.

With the added punks, was there a second bull car, or did they stable them in a regular stock car?

If twelve fit a 70-foot steel car, did that mean that ten were in a 60-foot car? Or, was there open spce between the doors in a steel car?

The Cole Show bull car that tipped over in Redding, Calif. was carrying 13 big elephants and Arky's horse.
