Buckles: I think an appropriate question would be "Which circus was your dad NOT on during his career?"
I suppose that as a young man he made most of the shows but things changed after he got married, the addition of a child plus the Great Depression.
We were with Wallace Bros. 1937-43 and Cole Bros. 1944-47, Kelly-Miller 1950-52 and then his own independent elephant act.
This was pretty consistent work for this type of business.
What has always impressed me about your dad is the way he made notes on the backs of photos. He obviously was a great organizer. I go through literal hell every time I do a search for a photo, clipping or interview transcripts. "Which Wal-Mart bin did I place it this time?" I dare not reply to postings on your blog without having material in hand; I've had my hands slapped a few times by some awfully good sharpies. That amount of circus contained on your blog is astounding. Please keep it up.
