Whenever the Lone Ranger appeared with his mask on, his voice was dubbed in by versatile voice actor Billy Bletcher. Whenever the Lone Ranger cut loose with a hardy “Hi yo, Silver. Away,” the voice was that of Earl Graser, the actor who played the Lone Ranger on radio during the 1930’s. Two endings were filmed. One had the Lone Ranger remaining masked and other showed him removing his mask briefly so that the audience would finally learn his true identity. The unmasking version was the one that was ultimately used, much to the annoyance of George W. Trendle, the man who owned the radio show. |
