The Ringling red unit arrived in Baltimore this past April 5 for its usual two-week engagement. Coaches were spotted beginning at 6pm, step stools placed at each car, and trash bags were attached by the vestibule stairs well before the cut with the flats arrived in the yard, shown here at 7:05 in the evening as it pulls in for unloading. |

This has beeen a great little journey backstage. Thanks Richard and Buckles.
one year in Baltimore, I think it was 1974 0r 75, Stanley Gills stateroom got broken in to and some items where taken. So the hired a Security guard to patrol outside the train. The next night I came home after the show and my room was empty, there was nothing left, not even the dirty laundry.
That old siding in Baltimore
was in a pretty bad & deserted
area with great crime potential
Not easy to find nor to protect
Dick, great look behind the scenes. It is nice to see the folks who work hard to keep costumes and properties in good shape. It gives a circus goer an appreciation for the folks who never take a bow but are esssential to the production.
I had a huge hasp with a padlock on my room on the train. And a large Doberman too! :)
Henry - A couple of friends and I decided to drive back to Venice after the last show. Met the train as it arrived only to find that during the return to Venice someone broke into my stateroom, took whatever they wanted and left the door open so others could help themselves. Sad part is you can't blame anyone on the outside when all this happened when the train was in motion. ~frank
Nice Shot
With the Doberman the hasp & lock
was really just decoration Gary
It reminds me of 2 versions of
a sign "Alarm By Smith & Wesson"
and "Alarm By Pit Bull"
Beautiful pictures and great stories, thanks so much for taking the time to share!
