1941 RBBB (Set 4) #9

1941 Ringling-4-9, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

Back when I was a senior in high school, I saw the 1963 Ringling show in the Cleveland Arena. The spec’s payoff featured elephants wearing antlers similar to these, pulling a large sleigh containing Santa Claus. (I recall that some of the elephants only had one antler.)

I have several versions of this "pay-off" picture and all are identified as 1942 Spec "Holidays".

Richard Reynolds commented that the shot of the elephants wearing tutus that appears on filmstrip #1 was also from 1942. Apparently, TRU-VUE must have updated their Ringling filmstrips with some 1942 shots, while never changing the 1941 copyright notice on the opening title frames.

Whatever year it was, after wearing those outfits during the heat of the summer, I'm sure those guys were glad when the season ended.
