Part of the 1941 camel picket line. In the upper right background is an example of the illuminated block lettering that Norman Bel Geddes had placed atop of the menagerie cage wagons to identify the animals exhibited inside. |

At the outset of the 1941 field tour, the camels and zebras were arranged in a circle around giraffe island. It was at one end of the tent and monkey island occupied the other end. The cage wagons were lined up against the outer perimeter in a circle around the respective islands, one at each end.
The elephants were arranged in two double picket lines facing one another one on each side of the tent. The public walked down a track along the center poles with a double line of bulls on each side.
Thus to go from one end of the tent to the other you first walked around the aisle surrounding giraffe island visiting the cages in the outer circle. Then you walked past the elephants to the monkey island and its ring of surrounding cages.
This photo shows quarter poles in a circular fashion, suggesting they are around one of the islands at one of ends of the tent.
