Legend has it that Billy Powell was the only wire walker to successfully attempt a "flivas" on the tight wire.
A "flivas" is a forward somersault with a half twist.
Upon successful completion the artist is facing his take off position.
Billy Powell and Hubert Castle both resided in Dallas, Texas upon retiring from performing.
They were friendly competitors over the years and had a mutual respect for each other's wire walking talent. They enjoyed fishing and an occasional dinner. Castle's wife, Mary and Gee Gee Engesser Powell enjoyed a cordial relationship also.
