Whoever crafted this, "forgot" the elephants...perhaps they were out on the main road...

This is an interesting drawing since this was my sponsored date. The LBSS stands for Lake Braddock Secondary School in Burke, VA. The parking lot and school are correct. However, the marque was faced 90 degrees towards the parking lot (shotgun) and bannerline on each side. The staff vehicles were parked behind all this to the bottom left side of the picture backed into the fence on the left. The elephants (9) were parked past he fence on the left. Tight lot. John Pugh mad a special trip down from Winchester the weekend prior to the first date to mark the lot and know exactly how it would fit on the lot. We, the sponsor, paid to removed 10 basketball goals each year for the date. But financially it was well worth it!

This drawing came about as the School Board gave special permission for this date to take place for several years. Being a tight lot the fire marshal also had to give special permission for the tent to be this close to the school building. It was permitted because the fence between the parking lot and asphalt area the show set up on allowed enough space for fire equipment to drive through in case of emergency (this permit is another story!).

Great times, great show, great owner, great people on the show to work with and some great friends make through the years!

You forgot to sign your name under your comments, Carl. Did you draw it?

Thanks for the credit anonymous! I did mean to sign it.

No, that would have to be a show person's drawing. I would make a bet that it probably was Doug Howadel, but I have to check some files and see if I have any notes from him for the hand writing.

No, it wasn't Holwadel...this is the SAME layout drawing we had in our Marketing book when I joined the show in 1978. The "name" was changed to protect the innocent (hence: Marcan)but I'm sure it was the same one!!!

That lot in Burke was TIGHT. There was one way in to the back yard and one way out...and if you met someone along the way, SOMEONE had to back up!
