Royal Hanneford #1 (From Peter Rosa)


As we enter 2010, I was sitting here looking at photos from the Royal Hanneford Circus press kit. I wish my former boss Tommy Hanneford had lived long enough to see the ROYAL HANNEFORD CIRCUS as one of the last great three ring circuses.

My scanner does not capture the gold lettering, however inside the impressive red with gold lettered press kit folder were the following words:

Spectacular Productions Under the Big Top and in Arenas Designed Especially For You and Your Venue. THAT HANNEFORD TOUCH!

And they were spectacular. Most sponsors never knew how big a show they got for what they paid.

On the hand out at his funeral were the words: TOMMY HANNEFORD FOREVER

Hats off to STRUPPI for carrying on the tradition of excellence. A little, but impressive lady continuing to produce the 3 RING CIRCUS.

I first saw Royal Hanneford Circus in Traverse City, Michigan at Glacier Dome in 1976 or 1977 when Struppi still worked the cat act. When ever they played Traverse City, they always presented the finest show for a very reasonable ticket price. In the early years in Traverse City, Tommy still did the clowning in the riding act. I feel very privileged to have seen the show years ago in Traverse City and also in Flint at the Shrine Circus rehearsal.

I was a Co-Chairman of Jamil Shrine Circus here in Columbia for many years, about 22 to be exact. we started with Hanneford around 1975, and have never used any other show since. Tommy and Struppi are two of the finest people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing and always brought us the best ! Hanneford is day dating RBBB here this year Feb 5-8, first time in about 20 years. I`m going to see both shows along with other fans in the area , and I already know which one I`ll enjoy the most !
