From Chris Berry The "Chicago Lighthouse" a home and school for the blind is located just a few blocks from where the old Chicago Coliseum stood on the south side of Chicago. The attached photo was actually taken outside of the Coliseum during the Ringling Bros appearance there in 1917 and shows a group of blind children gathered around an elephant. The "Lighthouse" has been in the neighborhood since the early part of the 20th Century, and while the neighborhood and buildings have changed, it is possible that the photo posted earlier by Jimmy Cole may be from an appearance there during that same time. The signature on that photo indicates that the photographer may have been in Chicago and the proximity to the Coliseum would certainly allow for a short walk for the elephant and band from the arena to the school. |

The Coliseum can be seen in the left background.
