Very Sad News about an already sad situation. Doris, one of the Golden Carlos Twins was killed in an auto accident last month. While her sister Karen was driving, Doris' passenger door opened and while attempting to reach and close the door she was pulled from vehicle. The Golden Carlos Twins were a top act in their day notably Circus Vargas and many major Shrine dates hewre in the USA. Unfortunately in recent years they have worked as street performers and passing the hat. The youtube link shows the twins performing outside a restaurant. Showfolks of Sarasota has set up a fund to accept donations for Karen. La Norma Fox has been a very close friend of the twins and will be assisted by Aureila Nock in collecting and documenting the donations. The youtube says the twins were 85 years old; but I think that is incorrect but I really do not know.
It is common knowledge that the twins had a horrible childhood and were under the thumb of their domineering father.
We have limited information here in Sarasota since the remaining twin does not have a cell phone and she has their camper parked in the lot of a German restaurant.

Tihany would know about there age because the worked for him for a long time, many many years ago. When I was with Tihany in 1983 and 84 the where there as well and I would say the would have been close to 40, up or down a few years. So 70 would be a better guess than 85.
From my records, the Carlos Twins were on Mills Bros. Circus in 1960...50 years ago. From the photo that I have, I would guess they were in their late teens at that time. So I would say around 66 - 70 years old.
The above truly proves how the Twins were enshrouded in mystery. They so protected their privacy that in a long season, I was never certain of their names. I addressed this news on 1/15, but there is another story, involving Hubert Castle.
We had a layoff, and were jackpotting when Castle spotted the Twins setting up their table to practice. He turned to me and said, "Those girls practice all the time. Are you going to practice on the layoff?"
I said, "Sure, if I get the help."
Hubert, incredibly, asked, "Help? What help do you need?"
I was dealing once again with Hubert's penchant for being totally unreasonable, so I lined it out for him. "I need at least 4guys to let the cages down, at least that many to set the cage, and the same 4 to safely run the tunnel. All that equipment and all that labor. All the Twins need is a level spot and a table."
Hubert blinked innocently and said, "That's no excuse."
