I had read George Hamid's book and finally got to see a Arab tumbling troop when I attended the 1985 Circus Historical Society in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. They were performing with Beatty-Cole that year. Needless to say, I was simply amazed with their act.
We were schooled by Antar Wazzan at the 72 clown college. To prove a point about strength and leverage he had one clown stand on my shoulders, then added 4 more clowns front and back and side to side. I was holding up around 700 pounds. It was so cool when they all jumped off. I felt like I was floating to the top of the arena.
