This is the Indian rhino calf born on July 7, 2009 at Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo, the first at that zoo.

There are now 54 Indian rhinos in 17 American zoos. That's more than were brought to USA altogether during the 143 years from 1830 to 1973.

From 1918 to 1923 there was only one Indian rhino to be seen anywhere in USA. That was Old Bill of the Barnum & Bailey and later RBBB circuses. He died with RBBB at Ft. Worth, TX in 1926 and was the last Indian rhino to be seen on an American circus.

Thanks for sharing Richard. I was watching one of the local PBS stations, here in Tampa, about a week ago, and they featured this same rhino.
