One of the greatest female fliers ever and I believe that she was the first woman to complete a triple. ~frank (The ever present cigarette must be in her other hand.) :-)
I don't know why, but she always reminded me of Lauren Bacall. ~frank
Yes, Frank. She was the first woman ever to complete the triple. She and Art both performed triples in their act.
Antoinette was very kind to me in my first Ringling years.
In the Garden, she always went into the seats to watch the flying acts. I joined her when I could.
She would quietly explain tricks and techniques to me and, to this day, I can't watch a flying act without hearing her voice.
During that time, in her 50s, she occasionally filled it for Chela Gaona. She could still accomplish the passing leap with the best of them!
I think I remember her filling in for Chela after Chela fell into, then out of the net in either Cincinnati, or Toronto in '72. I may be wrong. ~frank
