Ben and Family (Paul Gutheil Photo)

ben and family, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

Nobody here wants to call Ben's memorial a memorial and prefer "A Celebration of Life".
John Herriott tells me that senior showfolks in Sarasota don't like to drive after dark so I decided that 4:00 PM on Nov. 14 should be about right, two weeks from today.
This will be rather unique since it will blend right into the regular Saturday night crowd.
A number of out of State people are coming in which caused me to ask Dalilah which account she was tapping, Big Apple or Universoul.

Dear Buckles & Family -

Those of us who can't be with you in person, will certainly be with you in spirit to celebrate Ben's life!

Warmest regards and continued support to all.

Unfortunately, I cannot travel to Sarasota for this grand celebration due to my schedule here in St. Louis. But, I will be there in my mind to truly celebrate the life of a great friend and a great performer.

My devotions continue for all of the Woodcock / Williams extendeed family as they honor and remember the joy and wonder that Benny gave to the world under their great teaching.

On that day Nov 14th at 4 EST, 3 Central where I am, I will heave a toast to Ben and his life and all that loved him.

I keep looking back at that wonderful photo and I then remember Benny and AnnaMae with Ben in the loincloth and the leopard jump (thank you Barbra for one of the most photogenic moments in my memory). And then I remember that summer at Storytown with Rex and Ava and first learning something about working with animals and being around them - it was my first engagement as a pro, a flyer in a trapeze act, and my fascination with the elephants, Yankee, the horse, Dutton the camel, and Mable, the tiger. Then later on having the honor of working with Buckles, Barbra, and Benny and really learning to uderstand the relaionships of man and animals.

Throughout the years, it was Buckles, Barbra, Benny, John H., Col. Trevor, Kay R., Tommy H., Struppi, Charly, Gunther, and the animal people who went out of their way to teach the aerial acrobat what true trust, unconditional love, and respect really meant that allows me to do what I do today.
And God will life Ben up on his hands so that all of us can celebrate his life as he gave us all so much.
