Bob Goldsack's WOM book, pages 44-45, says that show owner Max Lindeman ordered the demise of Teddy at Raleigh, NC on October 17, 1941 as a precautionary action. He'd gone on a rampage at Lewiston, ME, damaging autos with his tusks. He'd also pulled his stake and ran away several times. Trainmaster Al Moody, who brought him to the WOM, returned from a hospital visit, only to be whacked several times by Teddy. Goldsack provides more details. A fellow named Henry Clay was then handling him.
Besdies the bulls that were in the Strates menagerie, how many elephants were with carnivals after Teddy?
