This was 1986, the only year, I'm pretty sure, that Allan's Great American Circus played the Milwaukee Parade. He lived in an opulent bus, the nicest one I'd ever been in until Tommy and Struppi Hanneford bought that mansion on wheels about ten years ago.
I think this was the year a realtor (female variety) in Sarasota paid about 13k for a date with Allan at a celebrity auction. He brought her to the parade for her date. This was about the time Allan was the bachelor of the month in Cosmopolitan magazine. Mike Anderson from Enquirer Printing was also there. He was very nice, even after I told him my dad stiffed his dad on some Fred J. Mack lithos. He and I had parallel childhoods, both of us spending our formative years listening to our fathers' talk to show guys in the back yards of circuses in small towns in Ohio. He told me he was once riding with his dad and Floyd King. Mike was in the back seat, directly behind Floyd. All of a sudden an empty Coke bottle came flying by, just missing his head. It was just Floyd disposing of the bottle.
