Modern Mechanix #4

Modern Mechanix-4, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

There is even a photo of a sea elephant in “an economical canvas tank, which stands hard wear and tear” and which was perfected by “circus inventors.”

This looks like Colossus in Sells Floto’s 1932 menagerie.

Isn’t that a quarter pole angling upwards in the background. I’ve read or head it said that on S-F in ’32 the sea elephant was exhibited in the menagerie.

On RBBB from 1928 through 1931 it was kept in backyard in a canvas tank inside a tent. The RBBB patrons only saw it when it made its circle around the hippodrome track.
