Seated at our table was Reverend Julie McPartlin, the rector of St. James Church where the legendary Gracie Hanneford was an active member. The subject of Gracie's bequest of $900,000 to the local high school was mentioned. Reverend McPartlin told me that the church received a bequest of $10,000 which shocked the congregation. I asked permission to share Gracie's generosity with the circus community via Buckles blog and was given the enthusiastic, "Yes, by all means." Small world, isn't it?
