When you blow this photo up, it looks like the Witches Curtain Tab has a 6 up hitch and the calliope is being hooked up to the Mack. Note the person thats holding on to the wagon tongue between the Mack and calliope. Getting the tongue lined up maybe.
And the date range would probably end in 1928. Sparks did not parade under Ringling ownership in 1930-31. Under Corporation ownership in 1929, Sparks was managed by H.B. Gentry who had a fondness for white parade wagons that are not seen in this photo. Hence, the date range is 1924 when the bandwagon seen on the left (the Dolphin) arrived and 1927. Sparks parade getting ready to leave the lot. Looks like they are setup next to a carnival making for a crowded lot.
The date is 1924 or later, as the lead bandwagon, on the left, wasn't constructed until that season.
The 1916-built Bode steam calliope is on the right, seen from the back, with the tableau from the Jones Bros. outfit pulled by the Mack truck.

You're right, it was Sparks practice to pull the calliope with the Mack. It's shown that way in an Eddie Jackson view, and others. Good catch.
The decorations on the reserved seat ticket wagon always reminds me of the applied decorations on some hearses.
