I have a standing invitation from Cap'n Lee to join him and his crew of the SS Leaking Lena anytime I am near the Alafia River, Gibsonton.
International Maritime Protocol is in effect.
oh vey and ahoy.
Ha Mike
The "Leakin Lena" was the name
of the boat on "Kukla Fran &
Ollie" (Ollie was the seasick
sea serpent) a kiddie TV show
from 200 years ago
Watch out for the rapids near Ruskin! ~frank
We locals call this river the "Alla-Fi".
Great photo of Judy Stevens, pretty as ever. Is That young guy in the picture Alexander or Sebastian. To bad they couldn't include the "old" guy in the photo. But you know how it is, some of us get camera shy as the "years" go by.
Ralph from Baraboo
Hell I thought his ship was called the "Unsinkable Molly Brown"
You locals have your own dialect
up there Sarasota folks barely
understand much of the time
I thought the Leaking Lena was name of Cecil and Beanie's boat in the Cartoon?
Oh Mike
I got that all wrong
"Ollie" was an Olligator
The "Leakin Lena" was from a
different kiddie TV show "Time
For Beanie" with Beanie and
Cecil (Cecil was the seasick
sea serpent I mentioned)
Must have been 58 years ago
Well Tepa
I guess our childhood had some
common occurences
Wonder how long we'll remember
I'm so sorry that I didn't get to watch all the kiddie shows, cause by the time we got our first TV, I was working after school and on Saturdays. I even missed the Mouseketeer that grew up! I hope that you all still have your memories when you reach Buckles and my age. Although some of you seem to hve trouble already.
Keep it up, I really enjoy all the comments.
Bob Kitto
Thanks Buckles. Ironically tonight is the night I proposed to Judy when you and Barbara took us to the Mexicalli Rose up in the Dells.. 3 days later We were married between shows, We'll always be grateful to you two, and Bill and Trudy , Peter and June, Ayala's,Jimmy williams and everyone else At the Circus World Museum who made that day so very special, 24 years ago...........
Many of those kiddie shows were
live every day in living black
and white just like the early
daily soap operas
During my apprenticeship to the
stagehands union I spent some
time on both "The Edge Of Night"
and "As The World Turns" at CBS
Each was a half hour every day
If it wasn't for Johnny Weissmuller as Tarzan, and Roy Rogers I wouldn't have ever wanted to work with animals. My google e-mail is TarzanRogers@gmail.com. Thank God for Sat morning TV! Can't for get Circus Boy either with Mickey Doleze? I know I just butchered his last name!
Does any one know anything about ;
" TIM TYLER & his Jungle Cruser "
A 1953ish TV Adventure Series ?
Possiably it was a Movie ?
"Tim Tyler's Luck", (1937), was a Jungle Adventure, 12 episode serial where Tim Tyler goes to Africa searching for his father.

Back when he was doing Circus Boy, he was billed as Mickey Braddock. Probably much easier to spell for most people. I just purchased several episodes on-line. Great show opening with lively music and the parade. They were great stories for kids, each with a life lesson that wasn't too preachy. Between Circus Boy and Toby Tyler, it's no wonder so many of us ran away to join the circus! ~frank
