Back in the early 60s Rex told
me that Sid was used in the film
"Jumbo" with Jimmy Durante
At that time she led the herd
Buckles -
I have heard from so many people that 'their' elephant was the one from the movie 'JUMBO'. I had read that three elephants were actually used. What do YOU know about the bulls used in this film?

They sent "Sid", "Anna May" and "Hattie".
"Sid" dumped Benny White into the tub of water. "Anna May" wore the top hat and tails.
Hi Buckles
Was "Sid" born here or was she
brought over from Thailand
She was among five punks imported by Hall in 1925.
"Sidney", "Wilma", "Nellie", "Tess" and "Anna May".
Your dad looks like a teenager
in this photo
How old would he have been
He was born in 1004 and at an early age was captivated by the circuses that played Hot Springs.
So much so that he joined the Rhoda Royal Circus in 1920 at age 16.
After being returned home he was sent to a Military Academy in Bellbuckle, Tennessee but to no avail.
1921 found him tending two camels "Victor" and "Rosie" in the Ringling-Barnum menagerie.
Buckles -
Thanks for the info. You and your dad cock your head the same way! Hope you and the family have a Fabulous 4th! ~frank
Now... who REALLY doubled for Jimmy Durante on the low wire?
My God, Buckles, your dad didn't appear to be over 1000 years old the last time I saw him. He was 2 years older than my dad.
