In response to yesterday's Clyde Beatty half-sheet

Buckles24, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

From Dave Price
As you can see this poster is in rough shape. When we were billing Los Angeles for the Cristiani show I took this out of a window where it had hung in the hot sun for three years and it was all dried up and cracked. When Fred Pfening did the piece on the Zacchinis in 1978 I mailed him the poster so he could photograph it for Bandwagon. You see the show title at the top is different, in fact it is incomplete in that it simply reads, "Clyde Beatty Trained Wild Animal." The cut was obviously intended for a poster that had the word "Circus" somewhere in the artwork. Otherwise it looks much like Chris' poster, of which I did finally get a copy when Kent Ghirard was selling off some of his lithos in the early 1980s. Anyway, there was at least one other version of the poster.

Up early this morning. At Friday's check-up it was revealed that I have developed an irregular heart beat.
I must be at Quest Lab in about an hour, ahead of the old people, for a blood work-up.
Later in the day I'll visit a Cardiologist with hopes of having several questions answered. Most importantly, "Will I be here for the Super Bowl on TV in February?"

As long as you stay ahead of the old people, you'll do ok- just so you don't leave before they do! I'll pray for you today.

Buckles - I just passed my two year anniversary from open heart surgery and just got back the results of my stress test. Dr. E. said, "Frank, your heart tested perfectly!"

Hope you get equally great reviews!

God bless!

What is great about Dr. E is that he knew what I was thinking in taking this test, the LAST time I didn't get to go home! He called me at 6:30 PM Memorial Day night. ~frank

We're not moving as fast as we were back then, but WE'RE STILL MOVING!

Amazing that this old poster would generate so many comments.

I mean, "Get Well and Stay Well."

I had 5-way bypass 10 + years ago and I'm still kicking. Take care of yourself and maybe it's time to go back to the weekly weighins.
Our thoughts are with you.

In year 26 with an irregular heartbeat. Blood thinner to help prevent a stroke and something else to control the rate...life goes on normally. Follow doctor's orders. Best to you, Buckles. Keep us posted.

Hope you are OK.

Let us know.

Hey there Kitto let's start

a 5 way club (not too many

of us with that count) I think

it may be due to the level of

our insurance coverage

We must have the "Right Stuff"

or we might have only had 4

A very good friend Henry Baker

who is an automation stagehand

had his just before I had mine

I also had an irregular beat

but that was easily corrected

with one of my daily meds

So Professor Buckles let us

all know what the doc said

Buckles -

What it boils down to is that there are a lot of us out here pulling for you, praying for you and thinking good thoughts for you! ~frank

I too was diagnosed with an irregular hearbeat (atrial fibrillation) two years ago. Electrical impulses from the upper chambers zapping out of control. Kind of scary but regulated with Lanoxin. Good luck, I hope you fare as well as many others have. Try not to worry. God Bless.

buckles - my prayers are with you and hope everything can be fixed. you have to stick around for many more super bowls -- didn't you learn the show must go on before you could even walk? heart problems can be scary. you just put your faith and trust in God and the doctors. i've had a heart valve that needed to be replaced for almost five years, but have to lose 160 pounds before they can do the surgery. many other complications, but i can do almost everything i could ever do except walk and breathe at the same time. i can go anywhere my scooter takes me. i even saw cirque du soleil in my scooter. i don't go to many circuses any more, but i'm old-fashioned. i still like the idea of the kind of show most don't offer anymore. by now, as long as i take my medicines, it's life as usual. sometimes i even forget i'm "sick"

when you get to be our age, you adapt, and i'm sure you will. good luck with everything.
