What year might this be?

None of Gee Gee's publicity photos were dated except a few that were autographed.

Those pedestals look familiar - oh yeah I load them in and out of the trailer everyday!

These props look like Casey

Cainan's in the K-M photos

That have some of the style

of Charly Baumann's

Chic,
They are one and the same. I was told they were made by Walt King and sold with cats to Larry Joiner AKA Lawrence Grant who then sold them to Gopher. I acquired them from him. I must say they were well built. The arena and props were pulled on a flatbed trailer being pulled with Jimmy Silverlakes pickup one year on Gophers show. The driver of the week for the truck (Not Jimmy, he was unlucky enough to have a CDL) rolled the unit 3 times across a median on I-80. We picked up arena section for a whole mile and seats on both side of the freeway. All was in use for the 7:30 show.

Thanks Casey

You didn't mention it but I hope

no one got seriously hurt and

that they found the driver some

other task

I have some favorite rollover

stories for another time

Are these props stainless or

are they chromed

Chic,
The driver and passenger walked away without a scratch. They also got away without a license, the state trooper who worked the accident came back later (3 hours) while we were loading the arena and props into another truck, and wanted to "chat" with the guy who was driving with an OH. ID card as a license. Apparently my groom, whose license was suspended for child support issues, had handed the man his OH ID in lack of a license, and the trooper had written the whole report up as if he were a legal driver. He barely scolded the guy after the fact because he was so embarrassed that he missed the ID for a license.

As far as the chrome/stainless question. We put a fresh coat of "mexican chrome" on every week. Some day we may spend the money on chrome or stainless. Gotta get Mr. Easley to be a little more gentle getting them in and out of the trailer first.

How wonderfully politicaly

incorrect a term (but fun)

We've used so many ethnic slurs

for stuff like this over the

years that we don't think twice

GOOD chrome (extremely hard to

get done these days) requires

3 different plating processes

after very complete cleaning

and polishing of the steel

1st layer is copper 2nd is

nickel and then the chrome

Each layer gets applied in

a tank using electric current

The time of each process is

what determines the value of

each layer

Even the best chrome plate

requires care in handling

but has the greatest gloss

surface where stainless is

nearly impervious to most

hazards but can never have

the brightest reflection

You might try using a clear

spray lacquer coating after

the bright aluminum spray

for better shine and more

time between resurfacing

I'm happy to be of help

with information if you care
