I lifted these last four pictures from Paul Horsman's pictorial book, "The Fabulous World of the Carnival".

Buckles

From Chuck Schlarbaum:

The interior shot of Broadway To Hollywood looks like they are still setting up.
I see Delilah (Sylvia Arnellis) from time to time at the Showmens Club. She was on Broadway To Hollywood again for the 1965 tour. I came on the show for the winter fairs in 1962 (no program books at that time) so believe this dates before 1962. I did the winter fairs for Jack Norman for 7 years and the 1965 summer tour. Great show. 50 car railroad show plus the stuff that went overland by truck.
Enjoyed going over the road on the train. Had a nice stateroom. Steve Fanning had the elephants and menagerie and had the stateroom next to mine. We were together on Cristiani Bros. in 1958.
Regards,
Chuck

Buckles,

We never got Strates in the Deep South. Read all about it in Billboard and always regretted never seeing it.

Still, in it's heyday, Royal American was a sight to behold, with its four Ferris wheels dominating the back of the lot.

At about age 13 I saw Gypsy Rose Lee on their back end and another year, a rather aged Sally Rand and her celebrated fan dance.

Pretty heady stuff for a teen ager from rural Mississippi!

Question for Chuck: Was Delilah and Sylvia Cassidy the one and same. Slyvia Cassidy was sometime billed as "Chesty Jessy". Understand she has scales now on Reithoffer Midway. Markeno
