This gentleman might be holding the cover for the air calliope.
I wasn't aware that those instruments sometimes rode sideways.

They were probably off loading the calliope for placement with the big show band. It fit better through the back door that way. Not many shows backed the air calliope wagon into the big top, most unloaded it and placed it near the band.

Oftened wondered about how they ran the air to the calliope into the big top. You can see the small engine and compressor in the front of the wagon.
Does anyone know if they moved the engine-compressor unit in with the calliope? Or moved it just out side the tent and ran piping to it?
