Seal Bros. Circus #1 1937

Scan11700, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

I was impressed by the rolling stock on Bud E. Anderson's Seal Bros. Circus 1933-37. The picture above and most of the others were taken in Savannah, Illinois June 13, 1937, a nice spread of canvas.
At the close of this season he sold the show, the elephants "Ena", "Mona" and "Mabel" went to the newly framed Parker & Watts Circus and possibly much of the equipment as well.

Buckles:
Where did Bud Anderson come up with the name Seal Bros?
Nice looking equipment.
ANOTHER DAY OF EXCELLENT PIXS FROM THE PAST.
THANKS AGAIN, BUCKLES!

Maybe the same place the Richards family came up with Trapeze Bros?

Yesterday my dad had a phone call from Barbara Byrd wondering where the term "butcher" came from. No one on Cole Bros (where my parents are) remembered. Maybe someone reading your blog remembers.
Thanks,

Bud Anderson was a terrific high grass showman. A very good series of articles on his career was produced by historian Joe Bradbury in Bandwagon magazine a few years back.

IIRC, the Seal Bros. name was coined by Bud's son, Luke. It may have been selected because it was fairly easy to paint on the equipment.
