This is the old elephant barn at the winter headquarters. It is built halfway into the hillside, partly for warmth and partly to better contain the large animals. |

It hasn't been remarked on yet but the lion's head carving sure looks like some of the more ornate, often European style, parade wagons of the 1860s-70s. I've got a lot view of JR 1886 that has the faintest of suggestions for something like this but I sure wouldn't make the leap to say it is. The mammoth carving, however, doesn't necessarily suggest a circus wagon but reminds me of what Jungleland did with an elephant carving!
