Bud E. Anderson Circus #1 1940

Scan11705, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

After a one year hiatus, Mr. Anderson framed another show in 1939 using his own name.
Following is a set of pictures taken in Prescott, Arkansas on Oct. 18, 1940.
As you can see the equipment is a far cry from his previous effort. A two pole big top in the background and the vehicle at left is identified as the Coriell family's house trailer and the band sleeper in the center. Luke Anderson once told me that his father sent him out to the Tom Mix auction in Arizona with a blank check where much of the show was acquired.

Buckles,

If you look more carefully at this photo I think it shows that this is more than a 2 pole big top. There appears to be a ridge line extending past the black man in the photo to another pole just out of sight at the left of the picture. I realize that showmen are fond of hyperbole, but Bud was advertising a 3-ring show and it may just be he had one.
