Anonymous said...: The last time I saw "Cheryl's Champion Afgans" at a Carden Shrine date in Lebanon, MO, about three years ago, the stagecoach was missing from the routine. David explained that on the previous day in West Plaints, MO, Susan had to have a vet put down the lead dog that pulled the wagon due to a brain tumor. David said Susan was mourning the hound's death as she would a family member. The anti-circus-animal activitist have no comprehension of the emotional bonding between trainers and their animals. (Or perhaps those activists who own dogs and cats themselves simply choose to ignore their own humanity when a circus protest picket line calls.)
