Stinson was with Ringling before Beatty-Cole?
Yes he was Anonymous
Not one of Allen's favorites
Chic
Yes, Anonymous. And, Tim was an excellent Ringling "engagement director" and later helped pioneer the Circus Vargas "cold" dates in California, before working for Cole Bros.
Who WAS one of Allen's favorites? Allen?
In the "for what it's worth" category: I remember on CBCB's 1978 season seeing Tim Stinson often paired with a marketing person named Doug (whose last name escapes me).
I remember hearing older-timers referring to them as "Tim and Doug", "Frick and Frack", but mostly as "Dim and Tug" (said comment was usually accompanied by the rolling of eyes)
That would be Doug Lyon who soon thereafter handled PR for a Michael Jackson tour about the time the Thriller album was released. I've lost track of him since that time.
Dick Flint

Very good Jack
I thought you were one of his
favorites (I was tolerated and
often supported) just lucky

Sorry we didn't get to know
each other over the years
Chic
Doug Lyons. He claimed to have been with Illusionist Doug Henning, prior. Actually, all he did was make McClosky's money dissappear.
...and DIM & TUG it WAS!!!
LOL
LOL
LOL
The vitriol here has become unpleasant.
I shrink back into my corner to comment no more.
Have fun.
Jack
When we took out the ill-fated 1980 Winter Tour of the Beatty show, Stinson was on promotions. We didn't do too bad in Ft. Myers, nor in our next town, Pittsburg, Pa. (Yes, the Beatty show made that jump--1,317 miles). In those two towns, Stinson was "Timmy" to Jerry Collins. But on the last 7 towns, Cincinnati, Lexington, Louisville, Dayton, Columbus, Wheeling, and Huntington, the cast and crew literally out-numbered the audience for every show in major coliseums, and to Collins Timmy became "that Ringling boy". We cancelled Winston-Salem and limped home broke for a long and bitter winter. In some defense of Stinson, however, it was a presidential campaign year and in every town we day-and-dated either Reagan or Carter, so guess where the news coverage went--they weren't interested in elephants and clowns. To make things worse, this was the winter Florida froze, and Froggie in Cookhouse ladled out 8 ounces of rice and beans twice a day and that was it for the next 4 months.
