A recent posting about a scholarship fund set up in the name of Poodles Hanneford reminded me that I have an original cue sheet for THE CIRCUS KID, the 1928 silent film starring Joe E. Brown and “Poodles Hanneford and Troupe.” Incidentally, Joe E. Brown also came from a circus background. In 1902, at the age of 10, he ran away from home to join the Five Marvelous Astons and appeared in circuses and vaudeville for many years before making it big in the movies. (Today, he is probably best remembered as the randy old millionaire from SOME LIKE IT HOT. I seem to recall that, in the early 1960s, he also narrated a film about one of the Old Milwaukee Days circus parades.) |

I guess you have not seen the latest movie "Showboat" where Joe E. Brown does a great Cptn. Andy. He was fabulous and it is my favorite all time Movie.
