More on 1988 in Japan #2

From Scott Riddle (continued)

We spent 6 months in Japan and played three cities. The first was Sapporo in northern Japan. It was very green and lots of open farmland. We played on a huge lot that also had an International Food Fair going on, there were a lot of countries represented and we were able to try a lot of exotic food. The security on the show lot was very tight- Japanese security guards everywhere. It took several days to set up that huge tent- it seemed like there were a couple hundred Japanese workers running and climbing all over. We spent about a month and a half there (all the time we were in Japan it was very hot and humid- not unlike Fla.) Everyone stayed in hotels and in that town we were taken back and forth by bus. The nut for the whole show had to be enormous. It seemed like everyone had their own interpreter. The tent held about four thousand people in Sapporo and in Tokyo it held about seven thousand. The show was packed almost every show. When we left there we rode a ferry down to Tokyo. We played in Tokyo the longest and later played in Osaka about a month and a half. In Tokyo we were in walking distance from the hotel to the lot. The lot wasn't far from the Ginza strip (which is some of the most expensive real estate in the world) The last city we played was Osaka (the largest industrial city in Japan) We had to take a couple of trains to get to the lot.

Does anyone remember the name of the unicorn lady. Something tells me it was Heather [something]. Did Tina Gebel ever present the unicorn in spec?

I well remember the Ginza.
I once enjoyed an R&R there. Took me about a week to recover.

Buckles,
I haven't financially recovered from my trip to the Ginza in 1083-84.

HEATHER HARRIS: Wonderful young lady...She came to Milwaukee one year to do the Great Circus Parade with the UNICORN...Think they rode one of the wagons from England. I had the honor to give Heather a Golf Cart Tour of the lot.
